So I’m doing decline bench yesterday after having done six wicked sets of cable push downs. I’m pushing 275 and trying to do 5x5, but it ain’t going so well, so I’m straining to do 3 or 4 and only got 5 reps in one set. Each of the others, I went all the way to failure and had to rack the bar low (this is on a Smith) and wiggle out from under it. When doing so, something popped and moved on or under my right rib cage and immediately hurt like a mother. So I abort the workout (ugh), eat, and ultimately have to take 800mg of Advil to sleep. I take my HGH and get a good eight hours, after which I think, ok, I’m good.
NOPE. Just getting out of bed replicated the same experience. Any time I tighten my core and move, I ultimately feel a pop and pain. (Unfortunately, as I now know, this includes having sex.) The pain is right on the top edge of my right rib cage and is sensitive to the touch. From reading, I gather I have an intercostal muscle strain that should go away in 3-4 days alternating ice with heat.
Anyone with experience with this type of injury? Think my diagnosis is accurate? Thoughts welcome.
