Benching with a belt yes or no

I only used a belt when I was equipped… it held my bench shirt down.

Heck…whatever you’re stronger doing.

I’ll give it a go on maxing next week see how it feels Im getting better at keeping lats tight packing shoulders could be better I think but really have to have somebody look at bench maybe I’ll have somebody film next week and upload it

I were it when maxing out, it helps keep me just a little bit tighter. PR/ max out attempts only, i think it is also psychological i wear my belt when going heavy or maxing out everytime on squat and deads, so i do on bench also.

I’m
At the point I wan to wear it as hit more to break it in as well

Personally I don’t, I’m no power lifter and generally don’t go below 6 reps though. Only time I use a belt is squatting because it helps my Hernia not get worse. If you like to why not is how I see it

Like the ladies. Maybe I’ll throw it on for hip
Thrust as well.

I never wore it for benching but then again I was never a big bench guy. I do see other people use it while benching. Give it a shot. Let us know if it helps

I struggled to be comfortable wearing a belt to bench, though I never had issues filling my belly with air and keeping it tight. Like @Poppy , when I wore a bench shirt I used a belt, but just a normal clothes belt, to keep my shirt down

I’ll give it go on warm ups to
See but I doubt I wear it. I think I’m sting o bench no belt

I bought one a few weeks back and wore it for squats thinking it would help my back. But it didn’t at all and my back was just as tight afterwards. So I dropped wearing it. I also decreased the weight and increased the rep count. Actually have seen more growth in my legs with higher volume with little to no pain.

Not talking down to you. A belt is really to brace against.

For squats… you yake your air not by inflating your lungs but by “filling your belly with air” pushing your gut against the belt…”bracing”. This will help support your whole upper body. If you get your belt too tight, it won’t work properly.

I’m tagging in @JB_rD81 to make sure I explained it right.

Yeah the whole it’s to help against injuries and what not is misconception now the help with bracing has helped with my back juat by making me
Stay a tight better

You hit the nail right on the head @Poppy. The belt is only a tool for bracing against and keeping your core tight. Remember, if you cannot fit a finger in it when it’s tight, it’s too tight and defeats the purpose as you will be unable to fill your belly with air and stabilize
